Making Ripples

Imagine a still lake-smooth as glass. Someone throws a pebble into the water and then someone else does. Soon, the ripples get mixed up together.

What happens when our ripples intersect? We make little waves, that’s what–hopefully for the good.

Kindness and compassion always have a ripple effect.

Jo-The Quiet Roarer, from Quietly Roaring

In the movies, people who go back in time are often worried about making a small change that will impact the future. But they never seem to realize making a small change in the present can do the same thing.

The generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.

Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)

This isn’t a new idea, of course. Paying it forward has been around for awhile. We just need more of it.

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.

I agree! It is disheartening to see adults being unkind towards one another. I like the saying on your t-shirt. Sometimes we get one shot with a person so we better get it right!

I have been working on being in the moment — trying to let go of the past and worry less about the future. As you say, small changes now can impact the future. God has placed us in this moment, this moment in time, for a specific purpose. We must be attentive each day to God’s leading.

It’s sincere, Jo. There should be another zero after your number of followers. And there will be, in time. Just keep writing what God puts on your heart.

Amen, Deborah! A favorite t-shirt of mine says, “Be kind. You can’t rewind.” True compassion and kindness is best modeled by big people first. So I try to do this with everyone. I appreciate your thoughts!

Kindness is a favorite word of mine. Our Lord was kind, gentle and compassionate with others. It hurts my heart when I see students being unkind and hateful towards one another. We’re not only to be kind but to teach kindness. “Be ye kind one to another” is a worthy verse to live by😊

David, you do such a good job intersecting your posts with other bloggers, as you did today with Jo’s words, showing the body of Christ working together. The part that struck me the most were your words, “In the movies, people who go back in time are often worried about making a small change that will impact the future. But they never seem to realize making a small change in the present can do the same thing.”

I’ve heard it said kill ‘em with kindness. Rather it’s more like cause life to spring up in others by showing kindness! I have said for many years that kindness has never hurt anyone!

What a great thought, I don’t need a time machine to go backwards. I can move forward today making a small ripple to change the future for the better. Mahatma Gandhi — ‘The future depends on what you do today.’ And this one too! “Your beliefs affect your choices. Your choices shape your actions. Your actions determine your results. The future you create depends upon the choices you make and the actions you take today.” ― Roy T. Bennett

I used to give food to beggars in Guangzhou China. After a while it caught on and many others began to follow my example. In three months it was being done all over the city. Some came together a bought a place for them to sleep safely at night.
Yes, your good deeds will produce an abundant harvest. You may not see it until you reach Heaven Gate and hear Jesus say:” Well done good and faithful servant.”

“Kindness and compassion always have a ripple effect.” I really agree with this. We all need kindness and compassion, whether we’re aware of it or not. And often we’re so used to not getting it, that the smallest gesture or just a gentle look completely stops us in our tracks, and completely turns our day around.

Yes. We moved up last Friday, and had finished packing all the boxes by the middle of this past week.

We’re now fully ‘in’ and can start exploring the new area, and making this a proper BerryBunch home.

Our recording studio is set up, and we’re looking forward to creating some new material in a week or two (need to update the host company we use for our website first as that comes up for renewal in a couple of weeks)

Oldest son is out running again on new routes, and my wife – Jo – starts her new job on Monday.

We have no clue where God wants us settle in a church fellowship and, to be honest, it’s very slim pickings near us, with many churches only opening on a rota basis….so there’s that to work through with God…

But, we know we’re supposed to be in this exact home, which gives us a supernatural confidence with everything else that we can’t yet fully see!!
