One day last week after school I found a sticky note on the driver’s side window of my minivan:
“Thank you for all your hard work.” Love, Admin.
“How thoughtful, an atta boy just for me; our principal must have noticed the extra work I did with our traveling music group.” I felt seen. Encouraged.
The next day, I received a follow-up email from her with the subject “sticky note”
Every single car in the parking lot was tagged with a sticky note; however, that Oklahoma wind outsmarted me. If the wind blew yours away and you would like another one, please respond to this email.
Love, Admin
Suddenly, I felt deflated. “Everyone got a note; it wasn’t just for me. Maybe admin doesn’t realize I went the extra mile after all.”
On second thought, it didn’t matter. My boss took the time to show she cared by tagging every vehicle in our huge parking area with an encouraging thought.
I suspect this sometimes happens with people and God. He puts an encouraging message on every life in the “parking lot,” but the world blows many of them away.
We don’t get the message.
Yet the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and other believers are there to give us another “sticky note” when we respond to their follow up email.
Kind reader, you didn’t ask, but here’s a positive thought—just for you:
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
