Enhance Your Blog Using Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Yesterday, my blogger brother Rainer posted a Collaborative Exploration and asked me to continue the discussion. The subject he chose was using AI in blogging.

Frankly, before this past summer, I’d heard about people using assistive technologies–to help them with various tasks–but didn’t really know what it entailed.

But then I went to a conference for educational administrators and learned this:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the term for a group of technologies that enable computers to perform tasks typically requiring human intelligence.

Shawn Beard, Assistant Superintendent

Me: “Okay, but how does it work?”

Shawn responded that I already used AI–a lot more than I realized.

  • Google, Alexa & Siri
  • Face recognition
  • Grammarly
  • Google Maps
  • Netflix, Hulu, etc….

All these convenient technologies use artificial intelligence to operate.

Here’s one way I use AI as a blogger:

  • Creating the perfect picture to illustrate a post. Below is an example.
I recently wrote about how I saw a kitten chasing a skunk. This is something I’m not likely to find in an actual photo. So, I created it using the Word Press AI photo generator.

Here’s a chicken racing a skunk. Okay, that’s just plain weird.

WP’s new AI Assistant will also give you feedback on content and structure and help your optimize your title for Search Engine Optimization (SEO), if you so desire.

I gave it a try, for this post, but didn’t care for the suggestions. I’m comfortable with the way I write and prefer my wordy title. So, butt out Word Press! Please and thank you.

Here’s another way, but proceed with care:

One can engage with AI to answer questions and even create content. Two popular applications are ChatGPT and Google Gemini.

Yesterday afternoon, I asked each of these programs to write a blog post about the sovereignty of God. Both replied within seconds–and it was decent content. ChatGPT even included several scripture references!

The “proceed with care” part, is one shouldn’t copy and paste AI generated writing and pass it off as their own. That would be disingenuous and unethical.

However, if you use artificial intelligence to improve your research and spark creativity–without quoting it word-for-word–it can be helpful.

So, kind reader, there it is. Thank you, Devotional Guy, for including me in this collaboration!

🙏❤️ prayers and love.

Yes, I thought it was good too. I tested it with “what must I do to be saved” and was impressed by the reply.

I just checked it out. This is very helpful! A one-stop-shop for asking questions about Christianity or the bible.

I just found an interesting thing on Google; a Christian AI ! And it isn’t the only one…but it is the only one that is free to use. https://berean.ai/

I agree, Matt. I suspect any blogger who regularly copied and pasted AI generated content would be found out quickly.

I am very hesitant to use AI because I want my writing to be my voice not AI

I use AI to review my vocabulary and grammar and sometimes to assist in a title but that’s as far as I will go.

I don’t use it much, either—except for the photo generator.

I saw a meme recently that shows how we changed. In the 60’s it was, “I’d better not say that they might be tapping my phone.” Now it is “Hey wire tap, do you have a recipe for pancakes?”

Thank you for sharing, Betty. I’m not surprised you are experimenting with the new AI tools on Word Press. You seem like the type who is never late to the party—if it’s worth going to.
I hope you and Dan have a great day too!

David, I have played with the AI in WordPress a bit. Like you, I didn’t care for the Grammar suggestions; I turned it off. Once it suggested I use a “simpler” word instead of the one I wrote. I didn’t like that! And it wasn’t a real “high level” word anyway. I am having fun generating pictures. I have that little side bar promoting my ebook, so I keep changing the pictures to keep it fresh. I don’t know if anyone notices, but I sure have fun creating the pictures. Right now, there is a friendly ghost riding a bike pulling a camper. 🙂 Have a great Sunday, David!
