Facing the Light | 50-Word Story

She sits there most days, in a festive summer dress, wearing a wide-brimmed hat. Some find it odd to see a solitary lady staring at a field, but she doesn’t mind. She watches the sunflowers, as they turn to follow the sun. There’s no hurry, for a long-time cancer survivor.

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. Psalm 32:9 (NIV)

Anyone who knows you will understand, as do I, that you never toot your own horn! But I do hope others see your beautiful words and heart through your writings (and amazing stories and humor, too).
All glory to God! Amen! HE has us! 🥰🙏🙏🙏

You’re welcome, Karla. I’m not trying to toot my own horn–by sharing the link on your post– but really wanted you to read this, and wasn’t sure you would see it. Your faith and courage are truly an inspiration. Glory to God! He has you in His hands, sister!

    David,

Thank you, precious brother! Amen 🙏 facing the Son/Sun. I’m in tears writing this as this past week, as always, have proven that with His light, we can grow~ even in the darkest of seasons. Aren’t sunflowers and our Creator spectacular?
Let’s continue facing the light and walking in faith. For we are victors! In Christ Alone! God bless you and all our precious friends here. 🥹🙏👏🏻🙏🥰 🌻

A beautiful tribute, brother David, to your friend Karla. Nothing is like the light of God to cast out the darkness and follow the sun of God.

Thank you, Alan. I enjoy checking the sunflowers behind our garden shed, watching how they turn throughout the day. However, I don’t track them in real time!

What a beautiful meditation David. Certainly cancer and other serious illness have their way of making one appreciate each moment of life. God bless you and Nancy, and our sister Karla 🙏🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Yes! The “Son”shine. I knew plants following sunlight was called something. Now I know! Thanks for stopping by, Sister Super-C. 🌻🌻🌻

And it is scientific too! Heliotropism- the motion of plant parts, such as flowers or leaves, in response to the direction of the Sun, causing them to turn or move during the day. May we all turn to the Son throughout the day!

We have a small patch of sunflowers that come up behind our garden shed every year. I enjoy watching them as they follow the sun. This became the kernel of a very short story about some super resilient survivors. Thanks you for following, reading, and commenting, Rainer!
