“Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!” Dr. Seuss
One of my colleagues has this sign hanging just outside her classroom door:

Frankly, every time I walk past and read it I have conflicting thoughts. Thought #1: “Right on!” Thought #2: “That’s easier said than done.”
If you’re like me, your sparkle has been dulled before. And needless to say, it’s a “Once bitten, twice shy” experience. In fact “sparkle snuffers” seem to have an unfair advantage in this fallen world. The lopsided power of negativity, as seen on social media, is a prime example.
Question: how do you do that—not let anyone dull your sparkle?
That’s right, I’m asking you, because I’m not sure I know. I do have a pretty good idea, though, so please read on.
“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6
Everything that glitters may not be gold, but REAL sparkle only comes from God. And whatever God gives you, can’t NOBODY take away!
That’s my idea: ✨God-Sparkle ✨. It doesn’t come from the world, so the world can’t dull it—at least not for long.
But the first order of the day is to make sure our glitter (yours and mine) comes from God.
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
This is one of my favorite scriptures in the whole Bible. God has an AGENDA for each of His children, AND it’s a GOOD one! All we have to do is make sure we’re holding the right bottle of glitter.
We are His workmanship, so keep sprinkling your God-Sparkle (good works)!
If you need a pick-me-up from a Christian blogger who has sparkle to spare, please check out Caralyn at Beauty Beyond Bones. She’s an eating disorder survivor who’s as effervescent as a glass of Alka-Seltzer!
Again, how do YOU not let anyone dull YOUR sparkle?

That’s a great attitude, Lorie! Sometimes I catch myself (when facing negativity) saying, “I can’t win…”. But then I think, “Wait a minute, I don’t even want to be in this game!”
Thank you for your encouraging thought! Blessings.

The nay-sayers do seem to have the advantage but I will not be defeated! Thank you for the encouragement.

Thank you! My wife tested positive for COVID-19 this past Monday, so I need all the God-Sparkle I can get. Thankfully, her symptoms are not severe.

Ephesians is one of my favorite verses too. Daryl was one of those placed in your path by God! Here’s a thought; we may often sparkle without knowing it or even feeling like we’re capable. That’s possible because God provides that light. You didn’t feel like it that long night at the dorm, but you sparkled for Daryl, thanks to God!

Here is to hoping! And hopefully many more follow suit in not dulling their God-inspired sparkle for anyone. It is a blessing. 😀

I’m glad your sparkle shined through today. You turned the tables on them! Perhaps this will be a break through—at least with some of those involved.

I have dulled my sparkle for many years. I can be quite boisterous if I don’t. The charismatic type of course.
I learned about allowing that “sparkle” to shine through today. As always, your posts are something relevant to my life.

Yes, indeed. You’ve described it better than me. Cheap knock offs can never replace God’s genuine articles! Thank you, Manette.

Thanks, Gary. Sometimes I wonder what coming out of His bag next, but it’s always good. Blessings

David, I love this illustration/object lesson. I will remember and use this when teaching my foster kiddos about life. To keep my sparkle from being dulled I must go to its source – God. If I try to sparkle by any other means, I will be dulled because I’ll be fooling myself by a cheap imitation. Like the difference between the gleam of a genuine diamond versus the faint shimmer of a gumball machine gemstone.

Great one David. Ephesians 2:10 is also a favorite through life. Unpacking all that’s there for us makes Mary Poppins bag look very meager.

Amen, Deb! The world didn’t give it to us and the world can’t take it away!
I like your life verse; it’s a good one! Mine is Ephesians 2:10.
Thank you for your comment!

Philippians 1:6 is my life verse! No matter what others, the enemy, or the world throws at me, I AM CONFIDENT, that He who began a good work will perfect it until the day of His return! The presence of God and the promises in His Word are my sparkle, which no one can take away! Take care!

Choosing our attitude each day helps protect us from negative thoughts—like the ones you mentioned in your post today. Thank you for sharing; I like your idea! Blessings.

For me, I start out each day choosing my attitude. If I don’t choose it, my day will. I begin by repeating what David wrote: This is the day that the Lord has made. I WILL rejoice in it and be GLAD!

Faith as a protective sealant, this is brilliant, Betty! It’s faith that holds EVERYTHING thing together, and even that comes from God. Thank you for your thoughts. They are always good ones! Blessings.

I have a can of spray glitter, and I use it often. I love how it gives sparkle to my crafting project. But then, because I don’t want to be finding glitter everywhere for years, I spray on a protective, sealing clear coat finish. Wallah! Problem solved. Perhaps the protective seal for our real life sparkle is our faith. It’s hard. In the heat of the moment of being “desparkled” that may not be where our focus is. But now that I’ve thought about all this, I’ll try. Thanks for the inspiration!

Wow, Alan! There are no coincidences in God’s kingdom. Come to think of it, you’re right, glitter is hard to get rid of. Perhaps God-Sparkle glitter ✨ is like the salt and light that Jesus talked about us being to the world. Thank you, brother. Blessings.

Would you believe me David I just saw the same statement on Pinterest this morning!? That is amazing. Would it be flippant to liken God’s Sparkle to the glitter kids use in craft? I think it is accurate myself…have you ever tried cleaning up and getting rid of glitter, it is impossible! Glitter always shows up from old projects our kids did years ago. Thus the world can never remove His Glitter! Thank you for this upbeat post David, it really made me smile today. God bless you brother.

I am centered, I am balanced and made of pure white light, I radiate love from the inside out. I receive light, I give love. Love is all I need, love is all I desire…..I am love.
That is my mantra “I am Love” and I use it in my healing sessions. Once you believe this you can’t help but shine🌠🎇🎆 like the diamond we are all meant to be letting ❤ be our beam. Beautiful post my friend. I adore Carolyn and her blog. We both have shared experiences with an eating disorder and body dysmorphia. You both are brightly burning lights and I feel blessed to call you friends🙏
