A Blurb for a Fellow Blogger (2)

Have you ever thought about what makes a good recipe for a story? My friend from the UK, Andy Berry, shows us with his latest project, Just a thought.

The book is essentially transcriptions of Andy’s popular 2 minute video series–from the Berry Bunch family website. Each story is like an elevator pitch that leaves the reader with a key thought about the Christian life.

However, these modern day parables can be read much faster than it took Andy to say them on video–letting the reader skim the cream right off the top!

I enjoy reads like this, because each story stands alone; you can cut them off on either end–like a stick of bologna–and come back later for more.

Warning: This little gem is hard to put down!

I have the Kindle version ($6), but the book is also available in print for $9.50. Here’s the link:

Just a thought

One added benefit, this little book will also teach you how to speak English. Now, I mean the “King’s” English.

Sample:

I was once stymied in a car park during a fierce winter squall. My battery was flat and no breakdown lorry was available. Thankfully, a gritter driver came along and gave me a boost. I was chuffed!

Andy Berry

Translation:

Andy was stranded in a parking lot once during a blizzard. He had a dead battery, and no tow truck was available. Thankfully, a snow plow driver came along and helped him jump start his vehicle. Andy was very pleased.

Translation lovingly supplied by David Duncan

Ok, I’m being a bit hyperbolic.😀 But reading this book will teach you the UK way to say things. Plus, I got to use the word hyperbolic on my blog–something I’m been wanting to do since 2019!

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.

Now, go snatch up a copy of Just a thought while they’re still in stock!

Sure! A pound is currently worth about $.79

Did you know the informal word for British Pounds Sterling is quid? Ex. I just spent 120 quid on a tank of gas! Not far from true, as gas in the UK (due to taxes) is currently about $5.89 a gallon.

Thanks, Nicola. I’ve joined the UK Christian Bloggers on a video chat, or two, and I learn more English that way, too.

Thanks for sharing, Beth. This will make Andy smile, as his three young men go to school at home as well.
I also enjoy learning the British way to say things.

I purchased the kindle version as well. I’ve been using it as part of my girls before school devotional time. We are all enjoying Andy’s modern parables and the girls enjoy learning English terminology.

    Thanks, brother! Notice, I don’t claim I can translate Scot’s English.😊
