Falling with Style

A recent devotional from Streams in the Desert tells how Bald Eagles teach their babies to fly. If the chicks won’t listen to their persuasive calls–to take to the air–they literally push them out of the nest! Did I mention it’s often 100 feet to the ground?

I’m guessing here, but I figure few baby eagles go Splat. They learn to fly lickety split when they have to. Mom and dad know best.

Our unrealized potential truly is a personal gold mine–waiting to be discovered. Yet the stark reality is, only some of us fly.

But all of us fall.

I’ve left the “nest” before; a few times less willingly than others. What happened next was less flying and more about falling with style, like Woody told Buzz in the movie Toy Story.

I know, I know. I’m supposed to write positive thoughts from a Christian perspective, like my tag line says. But life isn’t always a bed of roses. So today, here’s to falling with style.

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.

Falling/suffering/style/perseverance. I have Romans 5 on my mind: Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.

“It’s the getting back up again that is important, just as if it was all on purpose.”
This idea of resiliency could be another post in itself. Thank you, brother. I may just write this into a post for tomorrow!

We love Woody’s quote in our house, we went through watching all the Toy Story movies recently with our grandson…several times. It’s the getting back up again that is important, just as if it was all on purpose.😁 It is amazing how our Father God can use even a wee fall to teach a gospel lesson. God bless you today brother 🙏

I don’t know an effective preacher yet who has not experienced falling with style. Messed up some words, forgot their lines, etc. But you get back up and soar like an Eagle 🦅 so to speak. Your dependency is on the Christ of God! May he ever help me when I speak!
