Clouds on the Mountain

One recent morning, as we drove into the city, the top of a familiar mountain was covered by a cloud. A closer look revealed a meadow below, blanketed with winter wheat.

What a contrast!

This is a good picture of a Christian’s walk with God. His higher purposes are often cloaked in clouds, yet He provides for us in the grassland below.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.

Psalm 23:2-3a (NIV)

Kind reader, I’ve been friends with God for over forty-five years and can say with confidence: while His paths are not always easily understood, He can be fully trusted.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will direct your paths.

Psalm 3:5-6 (NKJV)

    You’re welcome, Beth. I didn’t even notice the green field of winter wheat, until after I took the picture. I was hyper focused on the cloudy mountain top. This is a good metaphor, too. Sometimes I’m so focused on the next mountain top that I don’t see the green fields God provides all around me.

    I like this illustration David it is so true of life indeed. You remindedme of walking misty paths in the hills not being able to see far ahead, but I could see my next steps.
