Clouds on the Mountain

One recent morning, as we drove into the city, the top of a familiar mountain was covered by a cloud. A closer look revealed a meadow below, blanketed with winter wheat.

What a contrast!

This is a good picture of a Christian’s walk with God. His higher purposes are often cloaked in clouds, yet He provides for us in the grassland below.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.

Psalm 23:2-3a (NIV)

Kind reader, I’ve been friends with God for over forty-five years and can say with confidence: while His paths are not always easily understood, He can be fully trusted.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will direct your paths.

Psalm 3:5-6 (NKJV)

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.

You’re welcome, Beth. I didn’t even notice the green field of winter wheat, until after I took the picture. I was hyper focused on the cloudy mountain top. This is a good metaphor, too. Sometimes I’m so focused on the next mountain top that I don’t see the green fields God provides all around me.

“His higher purposes are often cloaked in clouds, yet He provides for us in the grassland below.” A timely post for me to read. Jotted this particular snippet into my prayer journal. Thank you David!

Yes you got it better than right, Deb! The mountain top is wonderful, but it’s in the green pastures that we spend most of our time with God. Thank you for sharing. God Bless!

David, yes, you’ve summed it up beautifully: our heart’s true rest and our soul’s deep trust give our mind and body strength and refreshment to endure. Did I get it right…? 🙏☺️

    Amen and Amen

Yes those mountain top experiences can be beyond good! But we don’t live there, and He ensures to provide for us where we are.

God working out His good for our good—over time—is an important thought. It isn’t always instantaneous, but God provides.

I like the message on your coffee mug, Priscilla. Restoration, especially God’s variety, is no simple matter in our fast-paced society. I appreciate your visiting and commenting on the posts at my little blog. God Bless!

This post made me smile for more than one reason. My husband gave me a mug for Christmas that says, “He restores my soul.”

I like this illustration David it is so true of life indeed. You remindedme of walking misty paths in the hills not being able to see far ahead, but I could see my next steps. We don’t need to see the destination because we know He has it in His hand – hallelujah! God bless you and Nancy today my dear friend and brother 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🙏🇺🇲
