Gentle – for Five Minute Friday

There are so many things that could be described as “gentle.”

The gentle cycle on a washer, or the old placid dog who has met many children, come to mind.

But when I hear the word gentle, it brings to mind someone (or something) that is so powerful it doesn’t need to be harsh. I believe meekness is the word I’m searching for.

Jesus certainly fits this description. The Bible tells us he was fully God, yet fully man. Now that’s power! Yet he chose to live the life of a servant, and die a horrible death (he didn’t deserve) to redeem all of mankind.

Perhaps that’s why one of his nicknames is, “Gentle Shepherd.”

Today, let’s all be kinder and gentler than necessary—for Jesus’ sake.

Thank you my friend for this powerful inspiration. This is a beautiful tribute to all the Gentle, the Selfless, the Generous Givers who works their best so people can experience and appreciate what being cared for feels. There are many Gentle Shepherds around us and many times people that belong to this world does not notice nor acknowledge them. It’s time to change that and show them we see and are thankful for what they do. I hope many will read this post because we need Gentle people more than ever. God bless 🙏

Yes, humility is another good word to describe the way Jesus handled His identify as Son of God AND Son of Man.

I say a notice that you reblogged my post. Did it work after all?

    🙏❤️ prayers and love.

“Someone (or something) that is so powerful it doesn’t need to be harsh.” Wow! Just a thought to add to this: it seems to me humility blends in there, too–with being gentle and powerful. Certainly a description of Jesus.

I wanted to reblog your post, but for some reason, I can’t.

I’ve shook my fist at heaven a time or two. It did me little good. Thankfully, God was gracious enough to give me room to wise up. Thanks, Gary.

🙏❤️ Prayers and love. (I’m trying out a new closing—even with the guys.)

Yep, That’s my Jesus David. At times I’ve blamed him for harshness but usually it was my harsh circumstances brought about by me and tough love by Him.

Your input is always valued. Thank you.

Some of the best teachers and mentors I’ve had embodied kindness. Yes, they were firm, at times, but never overly harsh.

I appreciate your help here. It’s nice to have a pro like you stop by! Blessings.

Amen. There’s a verse in the Bible which says “Your gentleness has made me great.” I’ve thought on the verse often. How true it is. When we are dealt with gently with others it really builds us up. It creates some strong and beautiful in us.

Love what you’ve shared, it really got me thinking. Love your description “Someone (or something”) that is so powerful it doesn’t need to be harsh”. That does sound like the meekness/gentleness of Jesus to me. What a beautiful mix power and love is, Jesus is. What a beautiful thing it is when we strive to express powerful love on Earth, His presence.
