Have there been moments in your life when God sent you a personal message? This happened to me the other day.
As I’ve mentioned to some of my blogging buddies (and anyone else who will listen), I’ve taken on new leadership responsibilities at work that feel like a stretch.
I’m a helper/encourager type; a project coordinator. Second in command is my preferred role. Yet I’m walking the halls of an elementary school this summer as a lead teacher (administrator).
Back to the other day…
I stood at the back door of the school, staring at the playground and mulling over a precarious personnel issue. The problem in question was unlikely to be resolved peacefully without direct intervention. But what was the next step?
The other lead teacher and I finally agreed that one of us should talk further with the three teachers at the center of the dispute. As she walked out to the playground to do this I stood there and thought something like, “Are you SURE I’m the guy for this job, God?”
Turning around to head back down the hall, I glanced up the stairs. Stuck to a step, about half way up, was a red piece of construction paper. “That’s odd,” I thought. “We’re not using the second floor for summer school. That paper must have been there since regular school ended three weeks ago.”
Always a “Curious George,” I trudged up the stairs to retrieve the paper. I expected it to be a long forgotten student art project, but it was a message instead. A message from God.

Just keep what, Lord?
I tried every “How to find a hidden message” trick in the book, but there’s nothing legible after the word keep.
What does it mean??!!
Eventually a favorite memory verse came to mind—-one that brought me through many an anxious night.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” — Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)
That’s my message from God.
If you’d like, please share about a time when you heard personally from the Creator of the Universe. I’d love to hear your story, because stories matter.
🙏❤️ Prayers and Love.
BTW, the personnel issue was resolved with help from our head principal. Thank you, Lord!

Of course, Mitch! I feel like I just won the “Bloggery.” That’s me finding a lame word for lottery and blog put together😊. I am honored by your request. Thanks!

I remember this post you wrote, Manette! It was great to read it again. I would “like” it twice if I could. 😊
I’m happy to hear that perhaps my thoughts in the Lord have resonated with yours. This happens to me quite often with other Christian bloggers here on WP. I look forward to reading your future offerings. Your walk with God is clearly a close one.
Blessings!

I got a message confirming a post I was pondering and working on and shared my story here: https://musingsofmanettekay.com/2021/03/23/identity-know-whose-you-are/
Throughout my life, God has spontaneously touched me numerous times in different ways. David, you may have just inspired some future posts by memories your story has stirred.

Your story doesn’t sound weird, Deborah. I’ve experienced the same thing here on WP. Two (or more) different posts by different authors pointed to the same scriptural thought. Thank you for stopping by and sharing about your special message from God moments. Blessings!

So beautiful. It is not just a story. It is a revelation on how Jesus meets us in every need we have.
I experienced several times too when God gave me special messages. Like for example, I hope this does not come out weird to you, but sometimes when I am down and I feel discouraged, I had no desire to open the Bible, and I open social media instead like FB and IG. Then, I read the same messages or Bible verses from different posts and they actually speak a message for me. Ordinary things like these, God has a way of reminding us that He is with us and He is helping us. God is good!

I was going through a extremely difficult time and felt like giving up on life. He came to me in a brilliant light that enveloped me in perfect peace. Then said those words that cling to me to this day: “I love you and will never leave you. “

Wow, what a story, CG! God gave you the confirmation you needed about a relationship that is now 40 years strong and counting. I grinned from ear to ear when you said the girl became your wife.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing such a wonderful story of God’s direction.
God’s best to you.

Great post. I remember a long time ago I prayed about a woman I was dating who was not a believer in Jesus. I was young in my faith and prayed about it one Sunday morning — whether I should continue dating her. That evening, still wrestling with if I should continue the relationship, I went to see her. The first thing she said to me when she answered the door was, “I came to Jesus this weekend and started reading the Bible.” She was in car accident that morning and had a “Damascus Road” experience. This August we will celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. I thank God for that clear message so many years ago.

I’m glad you are writing more, as your blog contains many insightful thoughts from God. I, too, tend to be a bit reticent at times. I’m an extrovert (people person), but sometimes lacking in self-confidence.
Thank you for reading and commenting on so many of my posts. I appreciate your input!
Blessings.

David, thank you for sharing that story. As Alan pointed out, such stories build our faith.
I was at a prayer meeting several years ago. The pastor asked those people who had the gift of exhortation to speak words to individual attendees. A couple stopped in front of me and said, “The Lord wanted us to tell you that you are too reticent. You have things to say. You need to say them.” Since then I’ve been writing more.

Thank you for your kind words, Sally. My colleague and I are essentially surrogate admins. The head principal is a phone call away. However, she has entrusted us to run the summer school program. And, so far, things have gone pretty well. Blessings!

I appreciate you sharing your story, Aimee. Thank you! It’s so wonderful how God uses seemly random people and things to speak to us. But it’s not random is it? Hello PLANDOM!!

Aww, this is sweet – seeing the precious child’s note.
This is often how God speaks to us , in very unexpected ways, and He gives us, through grace, the ability to see Him working.
Congratulations on your new position. Good leaders, I have found, have love for the people they are ‘leading’ .
A good sense of humor, like yours, is always very helpful too. 🌷🤗

I love this story and always love God’s “hidden” messages in times of despair.
One morning at my old job, I was stressing about finding a new job after my grandma passed away because I was her caregiver. We were slow at the time, so I was praying and reading my bible. “Do I get a new job? I need a second job. Why can’t I find a job? Do I take this job someone offered me? Why don’t I have peace?? Am I missing an opportunity?”
I said, “Tell me what to do!” when a member I never talked to walked in the door, looked right into my eyes, and said, “Keep doing what you’re doing.”
After never talking to this man, when he was leaving, told him he may think I’m crazy but God used him to tell me that as that was my answer. After that, we became friends and he one of my favorite people in the world. He’s a quiet man who says nothing unless he’s talking about Jesus. 🙂
I kept doing what I was doing and a few months later God gave me a second job with my buddy Brent with down’s syndrome.

Such wee stories certainly do matter David, they build up our faith in God, usually in hard times. I can’t think of a specific story but, I do know there have been many situations where I have asked God to confirm a message and He does in the most amazing way. This has occurred by another person or curcumstance in which you hear God saying “See, I told you so!” Thank you for your faithfulness to His calling, God bless you brother as you serve Him.
