Tech Trouble

Our five year old broadband modem was running slowly and no longer updating. So, I called our internet service provider and a nice gentleman set me up with a brand new one: promising faster speeds and better security.

The package arrived on my doorstep two days later. I eagerly plugged in the new electronic gadget, carefully following the included directions for activation.

Nothing. 😑

The thing was as dead as a doornail. I reached out to our service provider once again.

“My new modem won’t connect to the internet,” I groaned. A pleasant lady on the other end responded calmly, “Is there a green light on the front panel, sir?” “There are no lights at all, ma’am; this thing is a paper weight.” “No worries,” she said. “I can help you with that.”

True to her word, the seemingly dead tech came to life a few minutes later. I followed the on screen prompts and, viola: A green light shined on the front panel! I was surfing the net again in no time.🤗

Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

Philippians 2:12b-13

Kind reader, when we have spiritual tech trouble, God is standing by. The Christian disciplines of prayer, bible study, and fellowship with other believers provide the ultimate heavenly customer service!

Scripture memory cards I made to help me through a recent struggle.
Alan, my brother in Christ from the Kingdom of Fife, who prayed with me about it– via Skype. Catch up with him at his site: Devotional Treasures.

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.

I’m with you, Jeff. There are times I feel like a trust fund child of God who doesn’t know or appreciate the value of heavenly currency. Jesus paid it all—in blood. I contrast, I often find it difficult to tarry with him even one hour in prayer.

“Work out your own salvation…” One of my favorite passages and one hardest to remember. I too often conduct myself without thinking whether my actions are working out my salvation with fear and trembling!

Always a good idea to get help from an advisor when our connection is not great.

    Good post David

Thank you, Dean! At some point I realized I was more concerned about getting back my internet than I’ve been about fixing my fellowship with God in the past. I am grateful for your input. God Bless!

Excellent analogy as usual brother David; I really love the idea of having Heavenly tech support on call 24/7…now that is service! As to the “photee” (Scots slang) of that cheesy grinning guy…he seems an amiable sort of geezer. 😁
    God bless you brother 🙏

David, I think what you so wisely did in your closing statement (The Christian disciplines of prayer, bible study, and fellowship with other believers provide the ultimate heavenly customer service!) was hand your readers the phone number that would allow them to contact costumer service for themselves and delve into the deepest implications of that passage.

Thank you, Beth. Admittedly, I didn’t delve in to explore the deepest implications of a favorite scripture passage. Frankly, it dawned on me that I sometimes know more about my car than I do about Christ. I say this to my own shame.😬

I’m glad you stopped by. God Bless!

Good to know your internet wifi issue was solved with the proper equipment and technical support. We all need intimate relationships with Jesus, Holy Spirit, and Father God. Bible study with their insight, listening, obeying, and following make for a wonderful walk with God!

This is a difficult passage of scripture that can be easily misunderstood yet your analogy to accompany gives it a green light of understanding. Brilliant as always, David. Alan is the perfect representation of a Happy Middle Aged Scotsman.

Gracias, brother. My devotional reading this morning was about how our hearts don’t naturally gravitate toward God; like Joshua said, we must choose to serve the Lord every day—sometimes minute by minute! Only with the Holy Spirit’s help can we get through our spiritual tech trouble.
I hope you have a great weekend. God Bless, brother!
