When Life’s Letters Get Scrambled

One recent Christmas season, the most endearing little yard signs popped up all over town: “Santa, please stop here.”

Yet on Christmas Eve, a rather diabolical Grinch came, under the cover of darkness, and rearranged the letters on several signs: “Satan, please stop here.”

This happens in life. Have you ever expected Santa and, through no fault of your own, gotten Satan? I have. And it feels like a surprise punch in the gut. A few letters, changed in the middle of the night, can shake one’s faith to the core.

Been There. Done That. Bought the Tee-Shirt.

Kind reader, here’s the good news–proven by many a true believer’s experience: it doesn’t matter if Santa or Satan stops by, because God also delivers! In fact the Bible says the Lord draws closer to those who’ve been sucker-punched by life.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

If this is you, you’re in good company. Hold on, hold out, and have faith. Because the God who created this planet ain’t going nowhere!

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.

Crystal, thank you for your gentle reminder that the scripture I wrote about is true. Currently, I’m back and forth—when confronted with the evidence—and the world goes on. Someone bigger, and brighter than me must be in charge. Blessings to you and yours.

Such a great illustration to pair with Psalms 34:18. And a particular example of my own comes to mind. I appreciate your gentle reminder that the Lord is near, no matter how the clues appear.

I’m glad it gave you a laugh, Deb. I can easily imagine God smiling at some of the “predicaments” that come our way. All mountains will eventually turn into mole hills–on the other side of this earthly life. Thank you for reading and commenting. God Bless!

Thank you, Alan. Your comment brought to mind 1 John 4:4 (NIV)

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

🙏 His richest blessings to you and yours, my bruv (brother). 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    David,
This actually made me chuckle about the times I’ve been “sucker-punched”!
    Laughter is so great.
    Love this. Thanks. 😄💛

How often the deil (devil) has a wee poke in our ribs, but rather than wincing we can win…we can slap him back with the Word of God. That hurts him more than his wee jab does us, all glory to our Father God.

“Hold God’s hand tightly, and life stuff loosely.” This is good advice, brother Gary. We think we know where the pot holes are, but it’s the ones we don’t see coming that jar is the most.

I woke up this morning thinking how life gets messed up really fast sometimes. I sure relate. I keep in ” loose touch” with about 100 bloggers throughout the year. On any given day ( that I am able to read blogs), several are going through tough times and several joining them suddenly.
I have to be like a child holding God’s hand tightly and life stuff loosely at all times.

I love this important reminder David. ❤️ This is the exact information Satan doesn’t want us to know. God is close by, we are not abandoned or deemed a lost cause.
