βDavid, be still!β I heard this a lot as a kid.
Usually it was my dad or two older brothers and all they wanted was for me to stop squirming and be quiet.
In fact, when I was six years old my older brother offered to give me a dollar to be quiet for 15 minutes.
I did so, and was handsomely paid. My mother told him, βThat was expensive.β And my big brother replied, βIt was worth it, mom.β
Yet, when God says βBe Stillβ He has something more valuable than money in mind.
Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
When God asks us to be still, itβs not necessarily because weβre getting on his last nerve. He wants us to press βΈοΈ so we can know Him.
God has a purpose (a good one) behind everything He does. But if weβre always in a rush, where is there room for Him to work?
Iβve been mid-prayer before, basically sniveling about something I wanted fixed, when the Holy Spirit said, βDavid, be still!β
Ok Lord, I will. 15 minutes for one dollar? π
Thank you for reading. πβ€οΈprayers and love.
I appreciate you, kind reader!
