Cheers from Heaven

I recently read about a small-time social media influencer who hit it big when one of their videos went viral on Reddit. Unfortunately, it was short-lived; half a day later, most people had moved on. It was the internet equivalent of fifteen minutes of fame.

This made me think: “What on earth gets heaven’s attention?”

I found one answer in the Gospel according to Luke. In chapter 15, Jesus tells a group of self-righteous Pharisees about the type of people who “go viral” with God.

It’s the lost sheep worth finding.

He then mentions something, that, when it happens on earth, starts a party at the pearly gates.

In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

Jesus- Luke 15:10 (NIV)

Kind reader, have you noticed that perspective is often most needed when it’s hardest to find? The religious leaders of Jesus’ day couldn’t accept the fact that he welcomed and ate with sinners. Yet they committed the bigger sin–rejecting Christ. Saint Augustine was right, “He who created us without our help will not save us without our consent.”

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.

For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

Jesus—Luke 18:14b (NIV)

“Readjusting our focus from the delights of man to the joys of Heaven.” Yes, brother Rainer! You summed up what I hoped to say in one sentence!
I’ll pray for your Wednesday message to touch hearts and bear fruit.

I am preaching on Bartimaeus during our church service this Wednesday morning at our homeless outreach. Although he was physically blind, he had spiritual perspective. I love the quote from Augustine. Thank for this remindful post and readjusting our focus from the delights of man to the joys of Heaven.

Yes, God’s perspective is what counts!

“God does not see as humans see. Humans look at outward appearances, but the LORD looks into the heart.” 1 Sam. 16:7 GWT

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.” Isaiah 55:8

Perhaps He rejoices over the repentant sinner because He has found His lost sheep and brought him into His own home, welcoming him into the family. We worship a wonderful Savior!!

Thank you, K.L. Your heavenly perspective, in the midst of difficult circumstances, is inspiring!
I can imagine Jesus being on LinkedIn. Not sure about the other sites, though. He’s more of a face-to-face kinda guy. 🤗

What a beautiful and wise post, David! Amen! Perspective. Often I think about how social media is all the “rage”. “Likes, shares, views…” and wonder what audience Jesus would have if alive today! Thank you for helping Jesus go even more viral! Because what’s viral in God’s eyes, is definitely not what the world desires. I’m ramped for revival! God bless you, my friend. 🙏🏻

Augustine has several one-liners that are spot on. Another favorite of mine is, “ Patience is the companion of wisdom.”

Yes! There’s also the fact that a sinful world and a holy God don’t always value the same things. Thank you for reading and commenting. Blessings!

What a great question to ask: What goes viral with God? The answer tells us what’s important in life …. helping people to see God more clearly, and bringing them into the kingdom. Thanks for this David!
