Overcoming Darkness with God’s Light

The parking lot near the track, where Nancy and I take early morning walks, is bordered by large sycamore trees.

Near each of these trees, there are lights that help illuminate the parking lot. The other morning, just after sun up, they were still on.

But some were more visible than others.

Looking good.
A tree trim is needed.

However…

Notice the morning sunbeams reflecting off the leaves at the top left in the second picture.

God’s light shines on the world regardless!

Kind reader, sin, self, and stuff will block the light of God in us.

But His light still shines!

This is the message we have heard and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

1 John 1:5 (ESV)

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:5 (ESV)

Today, and every day, may the Lord’s light shine through us!

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.

Amen 🙏! It’s amazing how much of God’s light shines through if we get out of the way and let it. Thanks for sharing, David. Hope you and Nancy had a great weekend.

The light chases out the darkness and allows the hidden to be seen, hence the dove. Good analogy, David.

Will do for Henry! And after my dove encounter last year, I’m always on the lookout for them, And this year we have had a little flock of about 30 mourning doves show up at the ranch, which encourages me every time I hear or see one. And thanks, as always, for the bonus points!

I think it’s a dove, Pastor Pete. Sister Super-C, from God Still Speaks spotted it. I didn’t realize it was in the photo. If it’s a dove, it adds to the spiritual depth of the analogy.

Beautiful analogy and encouragement for dark days. Yes, His light still shines. (I see your mockingbirds like to sit on top of the lampposts and sing there also!)

It’s a dove! I didn’t even notice. My great-great grandfather loved doves, because they helped him and his horse find water once, when they were both very thirsty.
Thanks for having such a keen eye and also for reading and commenting. God Bless!

So true, Gary. We just drove past a place where a grass fire burned up a grove of post oaks. It’s been about 5 years since, and it’s hard to tell where the fire swept through. All the oaks aren’t coming back, but a few are trying. The western red cedars are happy to fill in the gaps. Like they say, nature abhors a vacuum.

a great illustration David. We have places in our woods where the sun cannot get through , the trees are so thick. . On second thought…had places…. God uses storms for his good.
