I read a story the other day about a young girl who eloped from a shelter for troubled teens in the wee hours of the night. She was found in the woods a few hours later, not by the police, but by a female janitor from the local school.
When asked how she knew where to look for the girl, the lady said, “I ran away from home when I was fifteen. I knew she would head for the trees.” The thirty-ish year old woman then revealed that she had once stayed at the same shelter when a teenager.
Helped people help people.
Hurt may grow like unwanted weeds in a person’s life, but healing can also be cultivated. A well-tended garden takes work, but it’s not an impossibility.
Turn from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it.
Psalm 34:14 (NIV)
Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it.
Proverbs 11:27 (NIV)
Kind reader, it’s encouraging to be encouraging! Today, and every day, may we bring God’s light into the dark places between people.
