Taste of Faith: The Essence of Christianity

This is a bit from a commercial back in the day. Can you name the item?

Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun.

If you answered a McDonald’s Big Mac, you’re right!

Out of all the ingredients, the special sauce is what makes a Big Mac so tasty. Psst. I think it’s thousand island dressing.🤗

Here’s a thought. Out of all the Christian virtues, what’s the “special sauce” that gives an unmistakable savory taste to our faith?

If you answered love, you’re right again!

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)

Kind reader, God’s unrelenting, unconditional, overcoming love never fails. It casts out all fear and it out lasts it, too (1 John 4:18).

Can you relate?

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ Prayers and love.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

Jesus- John 13:34-35 (NIV)

I’ve written a few songs like that too, Gary. It’s interesting now that I’m no longer one of the youngest people in the room, either. Thanks for stopping by. God Bless!

I know! As I wrote this post, I kept thinking, “When was the last time I had a Big Mac?”
Yes, there is a whole lotta love in 1 John. It’s hard to pick a favorite verse.
Thanks for stopping by! God Bless.

when I was in a band in college, we made up a totally irreverent song using the commercial lyrics of the big Mac. It was a hit wherever we went except for the “old people”. Now that I’m old…ya…good take off on love David

Thank you, brother Alan. There are so many great scriptures about God’s love. This is the ultimate divine love I was talking about. Thank you for sharing about the one another statements. The Lord’s love thrives and grows in community. Blessings to you and Susan, as well. 🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸

Excellent encouraging post David – thank you! 😊 I am reminded of the song line, love makes the world go around, (Deon Jackson (1965). But as we know it is Father God’s love that is the real love. Also I like how this ties into one of the famous “One Another” statements, which are all about love. God bless you and Nancy today dear brother. 🙏🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

That’s both plausible and possible, Malcolm. The more love we can show, the better. Especially God’s love.

I love God’s timing on messages! This week I heard Colton Dixon’s new song “The Love I have for you” and these lyrics keep playing in my soul. God speaking His love over us!

You told me once, you told me twice
You’ll say it again a thousand times

With the love I have for you
    Ain’t a mountain you can’t move
In the dark, I’ll be the light
In the fight, I’m by your side
When you’re weak, I’ll be strong
    Your hallelujah song
Oh, you’re gonna make it through
With the love I have for you

No better kind, no greater truth
The love that I, I have for you
It’s river wide, it’s to the moon
You’ll be alright, you’ll make it

Thanks for the short and sweet (or should I say savory?) reminder on the importance of love, David. I’ve been in a cohort focusing on 1 Corinthians 13, so this hit the spot. Blessings.
