Alan Kearns, my dear brother in Christ from the Kingdom of Fife (Scotland), regularly posts jewels of wisdom from the late English pastor Charles Spurgeon. Today’s Spurgeon’s Morning – August 29 was especially insightful.
We have need that the Lord should have mercy upon our good works, our prayers, our preachings, our alms-givings, and our holiest things. C.H. Spurgeon
I commented to Alan that I often call out to God for mercy and grace when times are hard, but not so much when all is well. Yet, like so many in the Bible, and beyond, it’s in the good and successful times where we’re more apt to forget that we belong to the Lord.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought at a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Kind reader, can you relate? Like me, are you sometimes lulled into a false sense of self-sufficiency, forgetting that God is still God and we are not?
Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.
