“What operating system are you running on your Apple Watch?” she asked with a puzzled look. We were trying to use ours together–like walkie-talkies, but it wasn’t working. When I told my coworker the software version running my watch, she realized it was too old to sync with hers. In order for us to use the push-to-talk feature, I needed to download the upgrade.
One of our chaplains recently preached about Gideon. She spoke of him hiding in a winepress when an angel announced himself by calling the fearful young man a “Mighty Warrior.” Gideon didn’t buy it, at least not at first. His operating system needed an upgrade. He was about to realize that his faith, not fear, would lead to the defeat of the Midianites.
Kind reader, are you and I growing with God (updating) or still running on out-of-date software? Like Gideon, perhaps we need to download “Faith” 2.0, or 3.0, or even 4.0.
The Lord turned to him and said, ‘Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?’ -Judges 6:14
