Have you ever misread the message on a tee shirt or bumper sticker? The fancy name for this is malapropism–when an incorrect word is used in a sentence that sounds like the correct word but means something completely different.
A couple of months back, tensions boiled over at my workplace. I will shamelessly put a link to my post about it here. 😊 Anyway, a few days after a rather contentious committee meeting, a message on a student’s tee shirt caught my eye.
“Your Enemy is Your Currency”
My immediate thought was, “Yes! This difficult time can drive me straight into God’s arms–if I let it.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

After class was over, students came filing out of my classroom. I got a closer look at the tee shirt. It actually said, “Your Energy is Your Currency.” Oh well. No worries. I knew God sent me a heavenly text message.
All day long I’d been awfulizing about a storm of interpersonal conflict. The words, “I can’t win” were stuck on auto repeat in my mind. The Lord’s message was, “David, let go of the rope and spend some time with me. I never lose.”
Men may misjudge your aim.
Think they have cause to blame.
Say you are wrong; go your quiet way.
Christ is the judge, not they.
Fear not, be strong!
