Up the Hill: A Matter of Perspective

Here’s a picture of a hill, behind the elementary school where I work. Two weeks ago, our fourth and fifth grade run club ran up this little rise three times. All in the course of a 1.5 mile route.

Before we started, I showed the group the side view above.

Looks doable.😀

Here’s a look from the bottom— where we started—down by the black chain link fence.

Looks daunting.😳

Yet it’s the same hill.

The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, and He will make we walk on my high hills.

Habakkuk 3:19 (NJKV)

Making it up this hill reminds me of how the angel Gabriel described the coming birth of Christ to the Virgin Mary: ”For nothing is impossible with God.” —Luke 1:37 (NIV)

Kind reader, from God’s perspective, our greatest challenges are like a piece of cake. 🍰 No matter the hill, His strength is perfect!

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.

So true! It’s all about our perspective. This is a great reminder of the importance of us learning to view life from God’s perspective. Thanks David!

Thank you, Beth. That hill really looks worse, looking up from the bottom. But once you make it up, it’s easier the next time.

Thank you for that timely reminder David! “From God’s perspective, our greatest challenges are like a piece of cake.” The pictures certainly drive home this point.

That’s the perfect scripture passage to go with this post, Pastor Pete! I thought of Hinds feet on high places, but not “I look to the hills.”
Thank you for sharing! God Bless.

For me, choosing what to remember is challenging, but you’re right, Crystal. We are able to gain a better perspective by dwelling on the right thoughts. Thank you for stopping by! God Bless!

Reminds me of the passage in Psalm 121:1-2, I lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? It comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth( including those hills!)

I’ve had my mind on perspective recently. Especially when looking back, we can choose what to remember. When looking forward, like you say, with God nothing is impossible.

I love this David. Perspective is everything. How often I’ve had to remind myself that the impossible situation in my eyes … is only in my eyes. And then I look to the Lord … with whom everything is possible, and doable.

Good point, brother Alan. There were a few decades between Christmas and Calvary, and God saw the whole picture. There is no Christmas without a cross, and vice-versa. Brother, this will preach! Blessings to you and yours and 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

A great reminder David; our hills are possible in His strength. It also reminds me of another hill often climbed outside Jerusalem, but one day was a daunting challenge to our Lord – praise God that He conquered it!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Malcolm. The point you made is the one I wished to leave with my readers, but I don’t know if I “hit the mark” until someone says so. Blessings to you and yours and to 🇬🇧

I like the notion of perspective when viewing the hill… that looks mountainous from the bottom. The Mary perspective of ‘nothing is impossible with God’… my view of today’s problems… It depends where you’re standing.
