Into the Woods and Out with God

A month or so ago my brother in Christ from the Kingdom of Fife πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώβ€”Alan Kearns, at Devotional Treasure, shared a comment:

God knows the way into the woods, and He knows the way out.

Alan Kearns

My thoughts went straight to stories I’ve read about folk disappearing on day hikes in the Rocky Mountain Natl Park, of Colorado, U.S.A. Such tales usually don’t end well, as the person ventured out alone, or left a clearly marked trail, only to be swallowed up by the wilderness.

Life, even for a Christ-follower, feels this way sometimes. We wander into the metaphorical woods, or maybe the forest comes looking for us.

My pastor, a military chaplain, spoke one recent Sunday about soldiers being deployed on moment’s notice. Literally, they’re barbequing in the backyard and the phone call comes: β€œYou’re leaving, for parts unknown, in thirty minutes.”

This is military life. Yet such times send whole families into the woods at once.

Map and compass, please?

The tomb is still empty; heaven’s throne is still occupied.

CH (MAJ) McCarley

Kind reader, are you currently lost in the woods? My friend Alan, from Scotland, is rightβ€”God knows the way out. And those of us who aren’t directionally challenged, at present, must pray for those who areβ€”fully knowing that the wilderness happens to everyone.

Thankfully, we know a Guy…

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Psalm 145:18 (ESV)

You hem me inβ€”behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.  Psalm 139:5 (NIV)

Thank you for reading. πŸ™β€οΈ prayers and love.

I like your grandfather’s words, Pete. I also appreciate the thought that the more we know Jesus the more we know His way.

As my grand father, the navy captain used to say, ” It isn’t what you know, but who you know that counts.” The only one who knows the way, wants us to know Him more.

Wow!! Beyond bonus points? Actually, I’m probably paraphrasing something you’ve said in one of your posts. God sometimes allows us to literally be His messenger to another person, and also His hands and feet. This is a powerful ministry indeed!!

Amen! And the little pencils don’t need erasers–not when the Holy Spirit speaks through us, because God doesn’t make mistakes! If we say what He tells us to say and when He tells us to say it, it is golden.

So very true Alan about not recalling something you’ve written. I look back at some of my past posts, and just know those words did not come of me, that it was the Holy Spirit! We are God’s little pencils!

The Lord gives you wonderful thoughts, brother, and they often put things in heavenly perspective. You may not remember them all, but your brothers and sisters in Christ do, and God most certainly does as well! Blessings to you and Susan this day (and always). πŸ™πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ ΏπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Thank you for reminding me of that line, which I couldn’t recall saying lol πŸ™‚ I love moments like this because I get to give credit to the Spirit who is the true Author of all I write – as I say, I am only the scribe. I really love the other quote :

“The tomb is still empty; heaven’s throne is still occupied.” CH (MAJ) McCarley

I also love the reference to “a map and compass” which for every believer must be the infallible Word of God – His compass rather than pointing North points Heavenward Hallelujah! God bless you and Nancy today brother πŸ™ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
