Taste and See

Driving on a two lane highway through the rolling countryside near my home, I spied a long line of cows one early morning, trotting toward a rancher’s pick-up truck.

I instantly knew what the girls were doing: they were making a b-line for breakfast. This was a daily ritual, where the owner fed them some tasty alfalfa from the back of his truck. The cows were trained to know how, when, and where to find food every morning.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. Fear the Lord you his saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing.

Psalm 34:8-9

Kind reader, are you and I eagerly running to God every day for spiritual food, or are we getting our “groceries” from somewhere else?

Like new born babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

1 Peter 2:1-3

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.

We both posted about cows and Jesus on the same day?! I’m thinking now about what to post about tomorrow. Maybe we’ll post on the same topic again!

I wholeheartedly agree, Nancy. I gave up watching TV (mostly) and spend the resulting on devotional reading, scripture memorization, and meditation/prayer. Thank you for stopping by! God Bless!

Awe very sweet!! This really grabs my attention because my post this morning was about cows and Jesus!!❤️
And yes there are certainly times when I run to the (grocery store) things of this world (shopping, worry, junk food) instead of Jesus as my spiritual food. Very thought provoking post.❤️

I’m so thankful for the spiritual nourishment from God’s Word and thoroughly enjoy my Bible study time most mornings. Nowhere else can we receive such spot-on encouragement, wisdom, comfort, strength, and more!

Ah, yes, David! What a beautiful post! Our nourishment from God is the healthiest and best there is! Much needed. I crave it more and more the older I get. Like one reader shared, and a burger now, too! Many blessings, my friend!

Yep, they know what that truck coming every morning means! I sometimes miss an equivalent encounter with God. Thanks, Pastor Pete.

Amen, brother. There’s too much spiritual, and unspiritual junk food in the world. We need more Living Water and the Bread of Life!

Oh I can see those cows ambling over as fast as they can! Sad to say but those silly cows are smarter than I am about where to get the best food! Thanks Dave!

Thank you, brother Rainer. It’s often a challenge to be in this world but not of it, but it’s worth the effort. I pray God will bless you today, and always.

I’ve been focusing a lot on my personal fitness. A big part of that is connected to what I eat. It’s not enough to fuel my body with any old thing. Your post is good reminder that where we get our spiritual nourishment is as important as getting spiritual nourishment. We need to be careful what we take into our souls. Great post, brother.
