Finding God in Life’s Changes

It’s a sticker I found in a travel stop restroom, left on an electric hand dryer: “Here for the changes.” I looked it up, this is the slogan of a company who makes baby care products. Come to think of it, the hand dryer was next to a diaper changing station. (Yes, I washed my hands.)

I saved the sticker in my pocket notebook, as a reminder that God is also here for the changes–life changes. However, there are a couple of prerequisites:

Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)

Malcolm, from malcolmsmusings, posted today, expertly weaving Psalm 46 together with the Ben E. Keith classic tune, ‘Stand by Me,’ and a story of a British mother and son team who recently raced around the world in 51 days.

As I commented to Malcolm, I’ve read this scripture verse many times, but just realized that being still and knowing God is a personal choice.

He stands by us when we stand by Him. But this involves being stationary and seeking Him, which is sometimes a chore for a hyper hard-headed human (me) to do.

The end result is that the Lord is spotlighted.

Kind reader, can you identify? Like me, have you faced overwhelm, only to realize that God is underneath, overhead, and completely a part of all His creation? (Psalm 139) We need only be still and know Him!

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️prayers and love.

Me too, brother! I’ve always had a short attention span, unless it’s something that stokes my interest. This has been both helpful and hurtful to my walk with God. God’s best to you, as well! 🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸

Standing still physically and spiritually is something that doesn’t come easy for me, but the times I have stood still and waited on God have been some of my most blessed times. God bless you and Nancy today 🙏 🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Yes. It’s difficult for us to live on yesterday’s devotional time.

My best guess is that each perspective you shared is applicable and relevant, but at different times to different people. Today, I saw Psalm 46:10 from the conditional promise angle, for the first time. Thank you for reading, commenting, and starting this worthy discussion on leaving space in our lives for God.

Overdone describes well the emotional exhaustion that comes from trying to be master of the universe of my own life. Thanks for reading and commenting, brother. I look to you, as well, as a balanced friend in the Lord.

You’ve made me think again, David… ‘Be still and know that I am God’… Is it a command, a request, an unconditional promise, a conditional promise, a choice, an event, a process, a way of life… All, some, none of the above?

Yes, indeed—being still and trusting in the Lord is a personal choice. I can relate to feeling overdone and overwhelmed and turned to this verse and to the Lord and to friends like you, brother. Superb post. Hope you and Nancy are having a great week!
