Recharged

One day I looked down and saw my Jesus figurine next to the wireless charger, and hatched an idea: put Jesus on there!

It’s inspiring how the Bible says Jesus often “withdrew to lonely places and prayed” (Luke 5:16). And, when the disciples were facing ministry burnout he said, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest (Mark 6:30-31).

Each of these were spiritual recharge moments that show how much Jesus valued rest and stepping away from the noise.

Confession: the times when I’m most spiritually drained and need to rejoice—pray/listen to God and study scripture—-are often those when I don’t feel like it.

Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Jesus- Mark 14:38 (NIV)

Kind reader, I’ve found a way to watch and pray with Jesus when my intentions are good, but my physical and emotional limitations are overpowering.

I take a little prayer nap.😴

That’s right, I find a quiet place to sit or lie down and close my eyes. Then, I pray the same words over and over: “Heavenly Father, please help me!” Sometimes I also say a few scriptures from memory. It’s usually ten to fifteen minutes of quiet time with God where I rarely fall asleep. Perhaps a better description is prayer pausing?

Whatever the term, it’s spending time on the “charger” with Jesus. And, judging by how quickly it works, the heavenly wattage is high!

Thank you for reading. Prayers and love. 🙏❤️

Thank you G. W. It’s not a mantra, but more like a place holder—while the Holy Spirit fills in the blanks. Like you said, it’s the posture of our hearts that matters most. I appreciate your reading and commenting. God Bless, and happy 4th of July.

Yep. Sometimes the simplest prayers are the most powerful in those moments. It’s a matter of heart not words. Thank you, David.
