Who’s Short-changing Who?

I walked in the door with a pocket full of change. Clinking the coins down on the kitchen table, I began to count…one dollar and ninety-nine cents.

“There’s got to be another penny somewhere,” I thought.

Riffling through my pockets, I prayed with a wink: “I’m one cent short, God. Where are you?”

I received His answer immediately. “You’ve got it turned around. I’m the $1.99 and you’re the 1 cent.”

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man, that you care for him?

Psalm 8:3-4 (NIV)

Thought #1: God’s creation is vast, and you and I are a tiny part of it.

Yet, the Lord made us a little lower than the angels and crowned us with glory and honor. (Psalm 8:5-NIV)

Thought #2: Salvation is God’s work from start to finish.

We are saved by grace through faith, and not by our own doing. It is a gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8,9)

Like a beggar reaching out for a gift from the King, I’m a one-cent-er!

Thought #3: Being in partnership with God is not a 50/50 proposition

Colossians 1:27 makes clear the only type of collaboration God desires is, “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Please see the mathematical explanation below:

 199/1😇

Kind reader, a fistful of change being a cent short reminded me that salvation is all of God. Can you relate? I’ve been friends with the Lord since I was nine years old, and I still get it turned around sometimes.

If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.

Psalm 130:3-4 (NIV)

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.

God gave us the ultimate gift of his one and only son, Jesus, to pay a debt he didn’t owe for each of us, David. Pretty impressive ❤️exchange for each one of us!

I like your take on the cent 🟰 sent, G.W. God often calls us to impossible tasks—ones that are only doable when yoked with Him. It’s a hard lesson to learn, and one I’m still working through. Blessings, brother. Thank you for reading and commenting.

Good one! Very apt! Could one cent also represent “one sent of God?” He chooses who He will send for any given task, be it big or small. God Bless!
