The Clear Path

James and I were devout Christians who lived sheltered lives. Coming to university in the big city, we both felt like fish out of water.

One day after class, we tried to make sense of the alternative lifestyles that many of our fellow fine arts majors led. To them, right and wrong were not black or white but several shades of grey. How should we respond as committed followers of Christ?

The Lord took this question as a prayer; and there was a quick answer.

It either brings glory to God, or it does not.

Regular David (me)

The crystal-clear point was this: we cannot worship ourselves and Almighty God at the same time. Being a true disciple of Christ is a total commitment. There’s no “grey” with the Lord. We are either walking with Him, or we are not.

Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.

Romans 13:14 (NIV)

Kind reader, this fallen world is a magnet 🧲, and it’s easy for you and me to be drawn into it—to become magnetized.

But God has the antidote.

So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Romans 13:12b (NIV

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.

True, brother. Those who are salt and light don’t always see the results.

God places us where we can be his light. Even if it seems there will be no fruit from it, God is at work.

And we only need one shot of Christ! Redemption is for this life…and beyond. Brother, this will preach!

I know the type of environment you’re talking about, Gary. It’s amazing how God sometimes shows us what not to be, in order to show us what to be.

Loving people right where they are works—mercy before judgement. “We all have feet of clay,” as a pastor of mine used to say. Thanks for reading and commenting, Barb. I’m getting caught up on my responding. Blessings!

I seem to be navigating more and more relationships with those whose life style (or life choices) are so very different than my own. I choose to love people right where they are.

I worked my way through college on the trucking docks. First day I realized I would have to choose who I was going to be becoming.

It’s a great question: “What would Jesus do?” Or, as one of our army chaplains liked to say, “What did Jesus do?”
🙏Blessings to you! Thank you for stopping by.

I’ve recently been asking myself similar questions. I catch myself thinking something and ask, “Would Jesus think this?” And then before I speak, “Would Jesus say this?” And normally the answer is no, so if Jesus would not, why should I? With His help, I am determined to think and therefore speak life into people and situations. Great post for us to ponder!

“Does it glorify God?” is a very important question that we should ask ourselves very often, certainly far more often than I do! So often we slumb into the sofa of worldly comfort when our walk with God would be better aided in other ways. At the end of the day we need to be recognisable as belonging to God, even in the privacy of our own free time – that is a constant challenge for me. Thank you for your encouragement brother. May our Father God guide and bless both of you today 🙏 🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Thank you for sharing this! It’s exactly what I meant to say. 😊
If we belong to God, there will be reasons to believe it is true. The family resemblance will be unmistakable. Amen!

David, as I read your post, what really was clear was we are to be in intimate relationships with Christ. When we are clothed in him, we look and act like him because of close intimacy with him. The most important thing in his life was communication and intimacy with his Father, pleasing Him.
