There was once a wealthy heiress to a real estate fortune who was a collector of fine art. In particular, she was keen to acquire the early paintings of Pablo Picasso. Virtually every time a work from his Blue Period, when he painted mostly in shades of blue and blue-green, became available, the heiress tried to buy it. However, the one painting she sought most from this period of Picasso’s artistry never became available. In fact, it had all but disappeared, some years earlier, after being purchased by an anonymous collector.
The wealthy woman sent her chief curator on an extensive world-wide search to find and purchase Woman with Folded Arms at any price. Some months later, the phone call came: “I found the Picasso. I found it!” said the curator. “Where? Where?!” answered the heiress. “It’s in one of your warehouses in France. Your father purchased it for you years ago.”
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
2 Peter 1:3 (NIV)
Kind reader, if you and I are children of God, we already have that “painting.” All of heaven’s faith, hope, and love is ours in Christ.
Thank you for reading. Prayers and love.
- I once heard a pastor share his version of this modern day parable. It is not my original creation.
