Tuning into God’s Broadcast in Our Lives

A popular sports grill was packed one Saturday for lunch, with many of the noisy patrons watching American college football games on giant flatscreen TVs. Every television played a different game, but with the audio muted. I spotted a sign on the wall advertising an app that syncs the broadcast audio of a turned down TV to your smartphone–so you can listen to it via headphones or a Bluetooth speaker. What a great idea!

As I pondered how something like this could even work, a spiritual application came: Is God streaming His “programing” into my life, but the audio is muted?

There’s an app for that.

Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully.

Psalm 24:3-4 (NKJV)

Kind reader, we need outward purity (clean actions), inward purity (inner integrity), and loyal devotion to the one true God, to fully sync with His “broadcast” into our lives. Today, and every day, may you and I completely tune in to the Lord!

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ Prayers and love.

Your prayer is the same as mine, sister Bridget: that there is no static in God’s broadcast signal to my heart. One comfort is knowing that Jesus Christ also lived here on earth and He kept a clear open channel with his Father. As His disciples, we can too! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your husband.

I really love this. Every day it’s on my heart to be more in tune with God. I know if there are any blockages in the frequency it’s my own fault. God is always available. I pray I can learn to remove the static that interferes! Thank you for this, my friend.

    Thank you.
Our school counselors work with our EL students, ensuring that the teachers have what they need for them. I believe the headphones that translate are used as a temporary, stop-gap measure. However, as an assistant principal, I am not always tracking how our EL students are doing—unless the teacher or a counselor tells me there is a problem. You’ve made me think I need to look into this, and make sure our EL students are being sufficiently immersed in speaking and writing English. Thank you, and God Bless!

Yes, great analogy! Thanks. On another note, as an ESL teacher for many years, I wonder about the earphones that translate. Technology can be a wonderful aid, but I hope they are getting instruction in English as well. I get students who graduated from American high schools (in ESL for several years) and they only speak “street talk” English and they cannot write in English to save themselves. My constant question is: yes, the technology is wonderful, but does it become a crutch that they cannot survive without? Hmmm. Do you see it working for them to eventually integrate fully in English? Just wondering.

A great spiritual analogy, David! Love the question, “Is God streaming His “programing” into my life, but the audio is muted?” Something we all need to ponder. Blessings!

Fantastic, and we don’t need a special app to hear God!

True. We have headphones at my school which translate for students who are English language learners.

What is amazing about God streaming his programming is that he does so in all of the languages in the world. Even more amazing is that God would even stream his programming for us.

It’s understandable. We’re not cloistered monks. I guess growing older by the day makes me not want to waste a moment.

Binging crime shows and who-done-its is one of our guilty pleasures, David. I’ve always loved mysteries since I was kid reading Sherlock Holmes and the Hardy Boys. We could be doing something else, but choose to unwind and entertain ourselves this way. So I get it, brother. Blessings to you and Nancy as well. Looks to be a beautiful day!

Whitewashed tombs is an appropriate reference, brother. Most folks (including me) don’t necessarily see it like that, but the Lord does. It hits me sometimes, after I’ve watched YouTube video after YouTube video—usually about cars—“This is basically harmless, but am I missing something better and bigger with God?”
Thanks for adding your thoughts, Rainer. God Bless you and Terri and family this Thanksgiving week. 🦃

David, “Is God streaming His “programing” into my life, but the audio is muted?”—is a powerful question that leads to self-reflection. Are we just whitewashed tombs or are we genuinely living for the Lord? This world of ours can be so confusing and noisy at times. Thanks for shedding some light. Blessings.

Thanks for sharing yet another angle Gary. One of the verses I’m memorized and repeat often is, “Be joyful always. Pray continually. Give thanks in all circumstances. For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” I forget the address.😊
I hope when God’s calls come in, any other audio is turned down or muted. This is a good prayer to continually pray. Thank you for stopping by. His Bless!

I can think of a whole lot of things in life that can dampen my audio from God. I’m sure that “pray without ceasing” concept in our lives is what constantly keeps our audio current. I thought of that the other day while listening to the radio in the truck and a phone call came in. My radio muted until the call ended. A good illustration David.

Amen, brother! I love the different angle you explored here. There are always ways to reconnect with God, if we’ve somehow become disconnected. Thank you for reading and commenting so faithfully. May God bless you this day! 🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸

This reminds me of our broadband connection which sometimes we need to sign back into after a network crash; we find ours in a neighbourhood list and with the right password sign back in. This world has many networks full of unsavoury stuff, but God’s Network is password protected: “JESUS SAVE ME!” May we always have the correct password to Heaven. God bless you and Nancy today dear brother 🙏 🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
