The True Vine

Our back and side flower beds are filled with a hardy vine we started several years ago from just a few sprigs.

Do you see the rooster’s head? Only his legs used to be covered!

Here’s a photo of our side flower bed:

The bare spot is where I left two bags of grass clippings. It will fill in quickly.

Do you see the different type of vine in the front-center—weaving its way in? It’s something wild that planted itself there. We have to keep pulling it out, or it starts to take over.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I am him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. Jesus—John 15:5 (NIV)

Kind reader, it’s the last seven words of this verse that hit the hardest. Jesus left no room for “human growth hormone.” What can we do spiritually apart from Him?

Nothing.

I know, my tag line is “positive words from a Christian perspective.” Okay, I’m positive that I sometimes think I have just a little holiness all by myself—on my own.

Can you relate?

Thank you for reading. 🙏❤️ prayers and love.
