A vase with two carnations sat on the restaurant table where we ate lunch after singing at a nursing home. As you can see, one flower was a fresh bright pink, but the other one was dried up and shriveled. Both appeared to be the same type of flower, yet at different places in their presentation.
Having just left our senior friends at the nursing home, the two carnations reminded me of the frailty of life.
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that the all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 2 Corinthians 4:7 (NIV)
However, they each stood side by side, being beautiful in their own way. Which is also a reminder that God’s grace goes with us, through this earthly life and beyond. The Lord thinks no more or less of us, no matter our stage of life–fresh and bright or shriveled and fading fast.
It’s the Soul that Never Dies
Kind reader, aging and fading do not diminish our value or our beauty in the eyes of the Creator. God cares for His own; He will never leave us or forsake us.
I have been young, and now I am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread. Psalm 37:25 (NIV)
